Cuba, Paraguay, Costa Rica join the index

Data on the cyber security situation of Cuba, Paraguay and Costa Rica is now available in the index.

Cuba placed 107th in the rankings, with a perfect score for their capacity to protect digital services and a good score for cyber indicents response.

Paraguay entered the index in 58th place, scoring full points for their capacity of fight against cybercrime, as well as good results in the capacities of e-identification and trust services, cyber security policy development, and cyber incidents response.

Costa Rica ranked highest of the three Latin American countries, coming in 44th. They received 100% of the points for their capacities of personal data protection and fight against cybercrime. Other notable high scores were awarded for their capacities of cyber incidents response, e-identification and trust services, as well as education and professional development.

Chile and Ireland climb in the ranking

With the help of national experts, two countries have significantly improved their ranking in the National Cyber Security Index.

Chile is now ranked 33rd, and third in the Americas region, with perfect scores for their capacities of cyber security policy development and fight against cybercrime, and good results in the capacities of e-identification and trust services, education and professional development, military cyber operations, and cyber incidents response. The data for Chile was provided by Mr Carlos Landeros from the Ministry of Interior and Public Security of Chile.

Ireland is ranked 25th after an update provided by the National Cyber Security Centre. Ireland achieved the perfect score for their capacities of personal data protection and cyber incidents response, together with high scores in the fields of e-identification and trust services, protection of essential services, protection of digital services, education and professional development, and fight against cybercrime.

Lithuania claims first place

After a data update, Lithuania is now ranked first in the National Cyber Security Index. The update takes into account the 2018 update to the Lithuanian cybersecurity law, transposing the EU Directive on security of network and information systems, but has new information also in the field of education, cyber incidents response, and cyber crisis management. Lithuania reaches the full score in 9 of the 12 capacities.

Spain takes the index lead

After a data update, Spain has claimed the lead in the National Cyber Security Index. The update takes into account the new Spanish regulation on cybersecurity, transposing the EU Directive on security of network and information systems, but has new information also in the field of education, trust services, and cyber incidents response. Spain reaches the full score in 8 of the 12 capacities. 

Dominican Republic and Bolivia included in the index

Data on the cyber security situation of the Dominican Republic and Bolivia are now available in the index.

The Dominican Republic is currently ranked 54th, with a perfect score for the capacity of cyber security policy development, and good results in the capacities of cyber incidents response, fight against cybercrime, as well as e-identification and trust services. The data for the Dominican Republic was gathered through public data collection.

Bolivia enters the index in 78th place, with good results in the field of fight against cybercrime, military cyber operations, and cyber incidents response. The data for Bolivia was also gathered through public data collection.

Data on Bosnia and Herzegovina published

Data the cyber security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is now available in the National Cyber Security Index.

Bosnia and Herzegovina received full scores for their capacities to protect personal data and fight against cybercrime, and scored high several other categories, including protection of digital services, e-identification and trust services, cyber crisis management, as well as cyber threat analysis and information. Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently ranked 41st in the index.

Ethiopia added to the index

Data on the cyber security situation of Ethiopia is now available in the index.

Ethiopia is currently ranked 66th, with positive scores across the board, for example in the field of protection of digital services, cyber threat analysis and information, cyber security policy development, and cyber indicents response.

The data for Ethiopia was gathered through public data collection and checked by NCSI experts.

Data on Zambia and Zimbabwe now available

Data on the cyber security situation of Zambia and Zimbabwe is now available in the index.

Zambia places 51st in the rankings, with high scores for their capacities of protection of essential services, cyber incidents response, fight against cybercrime, education and professional development, and protection of digital services.

Zimbabwe enters the index in 95th place, receiving positive scores in five strategic capacities, with their best performance in the field of education and professional development and fight against cybercrime.
